Open-End Winding Triple Rectifier for Wind Turbine with Integrated Energy Storage
An Open-End-Winding Boost Voltage Triple Rectifier is proposed as a simplified and efficient alternative for wind turbines integrating a battery pack. By incorporating six additional power diodes into a conventional three-phase diode rectifier, the system can triple the DC output voltage, enabling the use of standard 400V wind generators even at low rotational speed. A two-level PWM converter is used for stator current control and shaping, as well as for battery regulation. The proposed approach reduces system complexity while achieving efficient power conversion, making it a viable solution for wind energy exploitation. Simulations show improved power quality and reduced complexity compared to traditional PWM rectifiers.
