Analytical Design Optimization of Permanent Magnet Assisted Synchronous Reluctance Machines Considering Different Driving Cycle Clustering
The design of electrical machines represents a key topic within the transportation electrification. In this context, the accurate computation of the main performance indicators along with a reduced computational burden become of paramount importance to tackle the application requirements over the entire driving cycle. This paper proposes a time-efficient design methodology for permanent magnet assisted synchronous reluctance machines based on magnetic equivalent circuit and stochastic optimization algorithms capable of full considering the machine non-linearities and the requirements in terms of torque and efficiency over the driving cycle. The analysis of the optimization results obtained considering an increasing number of representative points of the driving cycles helps defining useful design guidelines.
