Model Predictive Flux Weakening Controller for Asymmetrical Dual Three-Phase PMSM Drives
Asymmetrical dual three-phase permanent magnet synchronous machines (DTP-PMSMs) are well-known alternatives for high-performance electromobility applications. Flux weakening (FW) operation is crucial when a wide speed range is needed. This work proposes a novel FW continuous control set model predictive controller (FW-MPC) as an alternative to conventional FW approaches. From an MPC formulation, the optimal voltages for a given reference torque are obtained as the solution of a quadratic programming (QP) problem based on a quadratic cost function subject to linear constraints. Simulation results are provided, assessing the performance of the proposed FW controller under the Worldwide Harmonised Light vehicles Test Cycle (WLTC).
