Anomalias congênitas em filhotes de Pinscher após administração indevida de levonorgestrel e dexametasona durante a gestação
A 15-month-old female Pinscher dog was administered levonorgestrel (a human emergency contraceptive pill) by its owner. Subsequently, the owner self-medicated the dog with a protocol for ehrlichiosis, believing it to have a case of tick-borne disease, using dexamethasone. The dog maintained the pregnancy, but one of the puppies was born with a congenital anomaly (exposed brain), and another died within the first 24 hours. The dog was unable to produce milk, requiring veterinary intervention. The aim of this report is to highlight the risks of self-medication in animals and the need for proper veterinary guidance.
