EVALUATING THE SEISMIC PERFORMANCE OF HYBRID REINFORCED CONCRETE FRAMES WITH CLT SHEAR WALLS: EXPERIMENTAL AND ANALYTICAL APPROACHES
Hybrid building systems, such as integrating Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) walls into Reinforced Concrete (RC) structures, are gaining attention asasustainable approach to reducing CO2 emissions and promotingacarbon-neutral society. Despite its potential, research on the failure mechanisms, seismic capacity, and stiffness evaluation of this hybrid system remains limited. To address this gap, this study investigates the feasibility of using CLT shear walls within RC frames through experimental testing and the development ofapractical macro model for structural analysis. Two 1/3-scale RC frame specimens with CLT infill walls were tested under static cyclic loading, utilizing different connection systems-one with shear keys and the other without. The experimental results were used to validateamacro model that represents CLT walls as diagonal braces (axial springs), providingapractical tool for the structural design.
