EFICÁCIA DO METILFENIDATO NO TRATAMENTO DO TDAH INFANTIL: UMA REVISÃO DE LITERATURA
Methylphenidate (MPH) administered to children with ADHD results in changes in cognitive function (CF) in various contexts, encompassing both resting state and cognitive task performance. These modifications aim to make CF more similar to that observed in typically developing (TD) children; thus, it is considered a first-line treatment for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that impacts functioning in various life areas. With a global prevalence of 5% to 8%, diagnosis is based on clinical criteria, with the identification of causative factors remaining a challenge. Most diagnoses occur in childhood. Therefore, the aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of MPH in treating pediatric ADHD patients. A literature review of scientific articles published in the last 10 years was conducted for this study. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 15 articles remained for evaluation out of the initial 4170 found. After reading and analyzing the articles and their samples, a similarity was observed among the patients used in the studies, such as age and diagnostic condition. Additionally, the formulation of the substance used and the results in each study were assessed. Thus, it was concluded that in all analyzed articles, MPH has a clear impact on addressing ADHD in children.
