Global Constitutionalism in Multiplex World. Intersections
The article explores the interplay between global constitutionalism and the multiplex world as defined by A. Acharya. Juxtaposing these two significant intellectual frameworks and their real-world iterations is a deliberate methodological choice that lies at the core of this study’s rationale. It provides a lens to reexamine the applicability of global constitutionalism’s normative ideas to the increasing diversity and fragmentation of the multiplex world order. Proceeding through four major sections, the paper first explores both concepts, then discusses their intersections to reveal not only patterns of tension but also how they may potentially inform one another. It concludes with the proposed concept of ‘multiplex constitutionalism,’ which seeks to reconcile constitutionalist aspirations with the pluralistic realities of the multiplex world. Positioned within the broader debate on global constitutionalism, this concept responds to calls for deeper reflection on its adaptability and inclusivity.
