User-Centric Approach to Design a Digital Shopping Cart: Enhancing User Experience in Super Stores

The digital carts for shopping malls offer a swift solution designed to transform the traditional shopping experience. Particularly, large cities and metropolitan areas where end users frequently visit the biggest malls / superstore, the designed prototype of this study would seek to reduce the typical hassles of long checkout lines and the tedious task of identifying products. To address this alarming issue usually in big marts, this study attempted to design digital shopping carts for super stores. The proposed approach integrates Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) for automatic product detection, a digital interface for real-time billing and product information, and mobile application support for personalized recommendations and seamless payment options. The basic purpose of this study is to provide an automated shopping experience to the customers in which the total amount is displayed on screen; the products collected by delinquent shoppers are RFID-tagged products, which are scanned by a cart-embedded RFID reader. In addition to that, this study covered the new feature in this digital shopping cart, i.e. runtime notification to be sent to concerned customers on their specified & registered mobile number. This user-centric approach not only facilitates the automatic displacement of the carts but eliminates the need to wait in long queues, it also assists them in controlling and monitoring their expenditure, making a significant improvement to their overall shopping experience.
