Features of vegetative reproduction of Ampelopsis megalophylla vine

Abstract. Decorative viticulture is a type of horticulture that cultivates grapes in order to improve the appearance of the landscape. In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in decorative viticulture, as decorative grapes can decorate gardens, recreation areas and even urban landscapes. Decorative grape varieties are distinguished by beautiful leaves of different shapes and colors, as well as bright fruits. They can be used to create hedges, arches, as well as for vertical landscaping. Decorative viticulture not only decorates the environment, but also contributes to environmental protection, vines improve air quality. Thus, decorative viticulture can be both an ornament and a practical element of garden design. At the beginning of the experiment, we harvested Ampelopsis megalophylla vine cuttings at the experimental site of the 1st department of the Kuban school farm. Subsequently, they were cut into blank zones in accordance with the location of the buds from the entire length of the shoot. After that, they soaked them in containers and began to measure the length of the roots and shoots. As a result of the conducted research, the following preliminary patterns were established: the most shoots per cutting were in the zone of 1-3 buds. The greatest length of the shoot is marked in the area from the 9th bud and above. The largest number of roots per cutting was found in the zone from the 9th to the 12th bud, however, the largest number of rooted cuttings, as well as cuttings with 3 roots or more, was noted in the zone of 1-3 bud. Since, in accordance with the methodology of field experience, three years of research are necessary to obtain reliable data, the experience must be continued. However, it can be recommended beforehand to use cuttings from the zone of the 1st-3rd buds for the most effective propagation of Ampelopsis megalophylla vines. Keywords: vine, Ampelopsis megalophylla, vegetative reproduction, root, rhizogenesis, cutting, shoot, landscaping
