Influence of meteorological conditions on the phenology of leafhoppers in the Rostov region

Abstract. The article examines the influence of meteorological conditions on the phenology of rose and buffalo ceresa leafhoppers in two ampelocenoses of the Rostov region. The studies were carried out in 2021 - 2023 years under the conditions of two experimental fields ARRIV&W – branch of the FSBSI FRARC, located in Novocherkassk (hereinafter Region A) and in the village of Nizhnekundryuchenskaya (hereinafter Region B). The aim of the research is to monitor the number of sugescent pests in the Rostov region, to determine their distribution area. Climate change has a serious impact on viticulture, especially in the context of rising temperatures and water shortages. These factors create uncertainty in the adaptation of grape plants and may threaten the future of viticulture. At the same time, invasive insect species such as leafhoppers are becoming increasingly dangerous as they can transmit phytoplasma diseases, requiring the attention of plant protection specialists. Rising temperatures are accelerating the life cycles of pests such as leafhoppers and thrips, causing more damage to vineyards. Effective control of these pests requires regular inspections and preventative measures, including the establishment of buffer zones. Temperature extremes can disrupt ecosystem stability, making it important to understand how insects respond to climate change and its impact on agriculture. To combat pests, it is necessary to implement integrated plant protection systems that include agrotechnical and biological methods. The situation is complicated by the lack of natural entomophagous insects to combat sucking pests, as well as methods for controlling weeds in areas adjacent to the vineyard. As a result of the analysis of climatic conditions, a description of two agrocenoses of the Rostov region was compiled and data on the phenology of rose and buffalo leafhoppers were analyzed. Keywords: rose leafhopper, buffalo ceresa leafhopper, grape, sugescent pests, climatic conditions, phenology
