FUNCTIONAL ASYMMETRY OF CEREBRAL HEMISPHERES AND AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS
<ns3:p>This study analyzes literature on the specialization of cere- bral hemispheres in individuals with Autism Spectrum Disor- ders (ASD), particularly concerning speech development and social functioning. The research problem is explored through the following ques- tions: (1) What differences exist between the brains of neu- rotypical individuals and those with ASD in relation to speech- related functions? (2) What differences exist between the brains of neurotypical individuals and those with ASD in re- lation to social development? The study employs document analysis, focusing on relevant literature. The literature does not provide precise data but suggests that some individuals with ASD exhibit differences in brain func- tion compared to neurotypical individuals. These differences relate to the processing of linguistic and non-linguistic stimuli, semantic information, and social interactions, including eye contact, facial recognition, and theory of mind development.Research on functional brain asymmetry may contribute to the development of screening diagnostic tests using non-in- vasive brain imaging techniques for early ASD detection. Ad- ditionally, it may serve as a foundation for implementing targeted therapeutic interventions to enhance social and communication skills.</ns3:p>
