Fracture Calculations using Measurment Based Statistical Strength and Non-Local Failure
Abstract Modeling of high strain-rate fracture and fragmentation can be applied to different problems including high velocity impacts. Work continues on development of a predictive method to model these phenomena. The work discussed here leverages earlier analysis that used fragmenting metal ring experiments to inform the strength model. The follow-on analysis in this paper investigated the influence of local and non-local failure modeling using different mesh resolutions and textures.
