Ricochet Angle at Hypervelocity Impact

Abstract This work presents results of hypervelocity impact experiments, which investigate the relationship between residual velocity and impact velocity as the target obliquity is varied, with the intention to find an obliquity that results in a ricochet. Both experimental and numerical results are presented. The numerical results are in agreement with the experimental results. A simple relation for the performance efficiency is also presented. This relationship is in agreement with both the numerical and experimental results.
