Aging in Place and Safe Play: Designing an Inclusive Smart Home for All Ages
This work outlines the design and implementation of a comprehensive smart home system using Cisco Packet Tracer, with a focus on accommodating the needs of both older adults and children. The system integrates a range of IoT devices for automation, comfort, and security, with centralized control accessible through mobile apps and web-based interfaces. Special attention is given to user profiles, voice and gesture control options, as well as remote monitoring capabilities. The work prioritizes security and privacy, and emphasizes the importance of user training and ongoing maintenance. The resulting smart home environment aims to provide a safe and comfortable living space for individuals of all ages, promoting independent living for older adults and fostering a playful and engaging experience for children.
