Augmented Reality: Bridging the Gap Between Digital and Print In Bangladeshi Newspapers
Augmented Reality integrates into traditional print media to provide innovative means to add value in the newspaper reading experience as a means of adaptation to the demands of the digital age. AR as a concept has been explored in print media by previous studies, and showcase limited approaches (e.g., technological barriers and lack of user engagement). To address these challenges, this study develops an user friendly AR application which is specially designed for newspaper readers in Bangladesh. The researchers used the System Usability Scale to assess the app with a crowd of diverse participants. Findings show that reader engagement and information retention are enhanced using AR enhanced newspaper, while suggesting potential for wider adoption in Bangladesh’s developing media landscape.
