Amphi: A Smart Urban Waste Management Framework for Real-Time Monitoring and Sustainable Disposal Solutions

As urban populations continue to grow, the resulting increase in domestic waste poses significant health risks due to prolonged accumulation. To combat this critical issue, we propose an intelligent waste disposal system designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of waste management. This innovative system features a web-based interface that allows municipal authorities to monitor and manage waste bin statuses in real time, thereby reducing the need for manual intervention and promoting a cleaner environment. Central to this system is a GSM module that serves as a communication mediator, triggering SMS alerts when a bin's weight surpasses a specified threshold. This proactive strategy not only provides a cost-effective alternative for waste management but also enhances operational efficiency. Given the inadequacies of traditional waste collection methods in major Indian cities, which struggle to cope with increasing waste volumes and the potential release of harmful toxins, our proposed Amphi Waste Management framework seeks to optimize waste collection processes and minimize resource consumption. Our research underscores the urgent need for innovative solutions to effectively address the challenges associated with urban waste accumulation. By improving the operational efficiency of waste disposal systems, this framework not only saves time and energy but also contributes to a healthier living environment for urban residents.
