IoT – Driven Optimized Coal Transportation
This project addresses key inefficiencies in Coal India Limited's (CIL) coal transportation process, focusing on demurrage charges and the challenges of overloading and underloading during wagon loading. Demurrage charges arise when trains wait due to insufficient coal at sidings, while overloading and underloading result in penalties and unnecessary expenses. This project proposes the development of a comprehensive digital platform that leverages IoT sensors and real-time data monitoring to optimize the coal loading process. By providing instantaneous updates on coal stock levels and train locations, the system aims to reduce idle times, avoid penalties, and enhance overall operational efficiency. The ultimate goal is to create a more cost-effective and environmentally sustainable coal transportation process, contributing to both economic and operational improvements for CIL.
