Innovative Approach for Effective Removal of Water Hyacinth from Aquatic Ecosystems Using IoT

Water hyacinth is a rapidly growing aquatic plant that causes severe environmental and economic issues by obstructing waterways, reducing biodiversity, and affecting water quality. To address this challenge, an IoT-based autonomous boat system is developed for the efficient removal of water hyacinth from water bodies. The system consists of a small boat equipped with a cutting blade mechanism that operates similarly to a harvester. The movement of the boat is controlled using an Arduino Uno, which manages two DC motors for navigation. A Bluetooth-enabled camera provides real-time video feedback, while Wi-Fi technology enables remote monitoring and control. The boat is powered by a battery, which is supplemented by a solar panel for enhanced operational efficiency. After cutting, the collected water hyacinth is transferred to a designated storage area on the boat. This system offers a sustainable and cost-effective solution for the removal of water hyacinth, improving waterway management and reducing environmental hazards.
