A Dual-band Polarization Converter for Linearly Polarized Wave in C & X Bands

The metamaterials have achieved remarkable progress for their potentiality in regulating electromagnetic waves. In this study, we proposed a metasurface based novel cross-polarization converter, named Hexagonal Coupled Split Ring Resonators (HCSRR), which operates within 5.5 to 13.7 GHz, having -3 dB fractional bandwidth of 85.4%. It exhibits nearly unity Polarization Conversion Ratio (PCR) at the resonance frequencies of 5.8, 8.9, and 12 GHz for normal incidence. Moreover, it holds its stability up to 45° of incidence angle by keeping the PCR over 85% at those resonance frequencies. The dual-band nature of this metasurface is verified by the PCR response over 70% from 5.65 to 6.25 GHz and 7.7 to 13.2 GHz. The performance of HCSRR is established here through 3D full-wave simulations, theoretical analysis and experimentation of DUT, based on waveguide. It is well-suited for manifold applications like 6G wireless communication, video streaming, cloaking, industrial automation etc.
