Power Analysis of CMOS Family Using 90 & 45 Nanometers
The increasing demand for portable electronic devices with longer battery life has made power consumption a critical concern in integrated circuit design. To address this challenge, 90nm and 45nm process technologies have been developed, offering advantages such as smaller feature sizes and reduced leakage currents. However, these advancements also introduce complexities in power analysis and optimization due to increased transistor density. This study compares the power consumption of CMOS circuits designed with 90nm and 45nm technologies, employing both static and dynamic power analysis techniques. The analysis includes representative CMOS circuits such as adders, flip-flops, shift registers, and digital-to-analog converters. Furthermore, the impact of power optimization techniques, including clock gating, voltage scaling, and power gating, on reducing power consumption is investigated. The results provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of these techniques and guide the design of more power-efficient integrated circuits, thereby meeting the demands of modern electronic devices for enhanced battery life.
