“Smart Irrigation System by Detecting Plant Squeals Using IoT”

Water scarcity is an escalating global issue driven by population growth and increasing demands from agriculture, industry, and domestic use. Effective water management is essential for achieving sustainable development. This paper introduces a Smart Irrigation System that combines Internet of Things (IoT) technologies with insights from plant physiology to optimize water efficiency. The system employs sensors to monitor environmental factors such as soil moisture, temperature, and humidity, as well as ultrasonic sounds produced by stressed plants. A Raspberry Pi Pico microcontroller analyzes this data, and the setup is connected to ThingSpeak and MATLAB for real-time data evaluation and monitoring. By linking plant distress signals to environmental conditions, the system facilitates precision irrigation, reducing water wastage while improving plant health. The proposed approach is scalable and adaptable for both small-scale and commercial agricultural uses. Future enhancements will focus on machine learning models for predictive analytics, improved signal filtering techniques, and the integration of renewable energy to further boost system efficiency and sustainability.
