An Efficient Scheduling Algorithm Based On Buffer Status and Queue Length to Satisfy the Real-time Users in 5G
The next generation of wireless communication has begun with the introduction of 5G technology, which promises exceptional speeds, minimal latency, and increased connection for various applications. However, ensuring constant quality of service (QoS) for real-time users is challenging in the 5G network. The existing scheduling algorithms do not consider buffer status report (BSR) for the downlink scheduler as it is generally used for uplink. As a result, efficient bidirectional communication and overall system performance cannot be ensured. This paper proposes a scheduling method that takes buffer status into consideration, allowing users with larger buffer sizes to have better priority in resource allocation. It exchanges buffer status information to facilitate a seamless experience for real-time users. The algorithm also considers the queue length, delay parameters, and probability of packet loss to ensure a reliable and consistent experience even in challenging network conditions. The proposed buffer-aware algorithm has the potential to significantly improve real-time user satisfaction by decreasing latency, eliminating packet loss, and improving overall QoS by efficiently managing resources and giving users priority based on buffer status and queue length. The simulation results show that this proposed scheduling algorithm improves the real-time user performance regarding throughput, fairness index, and spectral efficiency in a mixed data type scenario. This advancement ensures a smooth and high-quality wireless experience for all users, marking a critical step towards realizing the full promise of 5G technology.
