Innovative Breathing Therapy for Cystic Fibrosis-A Gaming Perspective
Cystic fibrosis is a lifelong condition marked by abnormal thick mucus production, resulting in malfunction of the lungs and breathing difficulties. Traditional spirometry is an effective way but faces challenges of poor compliance among the child population. This paper presents a new approach in the improvement of care for cystic fibrosis through an interactive breath-controlled video game. It's an entertaining kind of therapeutic game whereby the movement of a character is caused by the breathing rate of the child, so respiratory exercises become funny. Real-time transmission of data to health professionals in order that they may guide and monitor the process properly; feedback channels for effective participation and progress tracking. This application will merge play with treatment to improve adherence to respiratory exercises and overall management in children with CF.
