IoT-based Modular Gas Leak Detection and Protection System for Enhanced Household Safety
Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and natural gas are essential household energy sources, but their usage presents significant safety risks, such as explosions and asphyxiation, particularly in confined spaces. This paper introduces a modular IoT-based gas detection system designed to minimize these dangers. The system detects gas leaks early and responds by automatically shutting off the gas supply via a solenoid valve and disconnecting the main power line for enhanced safety. It provides real-time monitoring of gas concentrations and temperature through an integrated display, while emergency alerts are sent to the user's mobile device via the Blynk app. The system comprises a central mother unit and multiple child units positioned in high-risk areas to ensure comprehensive coverage. This simple yet robust system offers the potential to prevent catastrophic incidents, ultimately safeguarding lives and property.
