An experimental investigation of partial shedding of the solar module in outdoor weather conditions in Bangladesh

This study investigates the performance degradation of four different power-rated photovoltaic (PV) modules, 40W, 20W, 10W, and 5W, for different artificially created partial shedding. Using an integrated strategy, the research conducted the module output performance due to varying sizes of partial shedding (20%, 40%, 50%, 60%, and 80%) without shedding conditions. In the Without-shedding condition, the different power-rated PV modules provided the maximum output power above the module's rated power. However, in shaded conditions, the module's power decreased rapidly from its rated power. Additionally, electrical performance was investigated outside using an I-V tracer, and experimental findings showed that the module's power degraded due to the size of partial shedding. This study shows that for 20%, the output power was degraded for four different power-rated modules. The maximum output power degraded due to the shedding size of 20% and 40% for 20W and 5W modules and 50%, 60%, and 80% for the 40W modules. This study demonstrates the relationship between shedding and without shedding and analyzes the output power of the different rated PV modules due to artificially created partial shedding.
