Echolight: A Camera-Powered Voice-Assisted Aid for the Visually Impaired
EchoLight is a camera-powered voice-assisted aid designed to empower visually impaired individuals by enhancing their interaction with the environment. The system integrates real-time object detection, text extraction (OCR), and speech synthesis (TTS) technology to provide auditory feedback about surroundings. Utilizing a smartphone or external camera, EchoLight captures live images, processes them through deep learning models, and generates spoken descriptions, enabling users to navigate their surroundings with greater independence. Additionally, the system can extract and vocalize text from objects such as bills, signboards, and documents, further enhancing accessibility. By combining computer vision, speech synthesis, and assistive AI, EchoLight bridges the gap between digital technology and the visually impaired community, fostering a more inclusive and accessible world.
