Design and Simulation of Bacteriophage Virus Shape Tuneable Microwave Metamaterial Absorber for S, C band Applications
A novel microwave absorber based on metamaterials (MTM) is suggested, which has four stacked diamond-shaped structures inside a square ring resonator, like a bacteriophage virus. The proposed metamaterial absorber (MMA) displays two absorption peaks that extend from S to C bands. For microwave applications, the suggested unilateral MTM structure is built on a 1.575 mm thick FR-4 substrate using a 0.035 mm thick copper resonator. At frequencies equivalent to the S and C bands' microwave frequency ranges, 2.45 GHz and 6.15 GHz, respectively, the MTM structure reached its optimal resonance. The maximum absorption peak values for the MTM are 99.99% at 2.45 GHz and 99.95% at 6.158 GHz. The transmission coefficient is enhanced by the flawed back layer structure while the diamond-shaped features increase unit cell absorption. Because of its negative permeability and permittivity, the suggested asymmetric unit cell acts as a double negative (DNG) metamaterial absorber. Its maximum quality factor (Q factor) is 40.83, and its effective medium ratio (EMR) is 8.75. The MMA is a promising S and C band absorber for microwave technology applications due to its excellent absorption characteristics and EMR performance, making it ideal for liquid and industrial chemical detection.
