Design of an Inverted L-C-shape Electromagnetic Band Gap Antenna using ENG Metamaterial for C-Band Application

A 90.0 MHz bandwidth was obtained from the inverted L-C-shape EBG antenna. Instead, the patch antenna (without EBG) provides 60 MHz bandwidth at the resonant frequency of 7.11 GHz. Similarly, the required ENG material provides the only negative value of electric polarizability is -1.69 enclosing the C-Band at the resonant frequency of 7.11 GHz. The resulting performance with EBG technology provides better performance such as return loss, far-field directivity, and bandwidth than a basic microstrip patch antenna (without EBG). Specifically, the utilizing properties of electromagnetic waves of ENG materials provides strengthening gain and overall performance in EBG Antenna technology and that’s the goal of our study.
