Núkjuae: Design of a Mobile Application to Support the Health Sector in Communicating with Speakers of Mazatec (Southwestern Variant)
We present Núkjuae, a mobile translation application designed to improve communication between Mazatec speakers from the community of San Bartolomé Ayautla, Oaxaca, and healthcare professionals. Núkjuae was developed using a user-centered design methodology. During the testing phase, four Wizard of Oz–type iterations were conducted to evaluate the usability of a low-fidelity prototype through specific tasks. The prototype received an average rating of 9.2 out of 10, highlighting its efficiency and speed, as well as strong user acceptance.
