Relationship between strength training and hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c) levels in patients with osteoporosis
Objectives: This study aims to investigate the relationship between strength training and hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c) levels in patients with osteoporosis. Methods: Data from 2019 to 2021 Korean National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey(n=1,299) was used. A chi-square test was performed to investigate the general characteristics, and a logistic regression analysis was used to find out the relationship between strength training and HbA1c levels. Results: Odds ratios(ORs) of HbA1c levels ≥6.5% were 2.36 times higher in 70 years old or older compared to the 50~59 years old, and 1.60 times higher in the elementary school-graduating group compared to the college-graduating group OR was 1.94 times higher in non-strength training group than in the strength training group. Conclusions: It is necessary to provide education and strengthen training intervention programs to manage HbA1c levels for older age groups and lower education groups.
