AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE INHIBITORY EFFECT OF AGAVE AMERICANA EXTRACT ON MILD STEEL CORROSION IN HCL MEDIUM
The corrosion inhibition effect of the ethanol extract of Agave Americana was investigated for carbon steel corrosion in HCl solution with different concentrations. The inhibition mechanism is discussed considering the thermodynamics of adsorption and kinetics of electrochemical reactions. Inhibition efficiency increases with temperature, while the activation energy for the corrosion rate decreases with the addition of Agave Americana. SEM and AFM studies confirmed the formation of a protective film on the surface of the carbon steel.
