Digital humanities and the transformation of research into russian culture

An analysis of the impact of Digital Humanities (DH) on the transformation of research into Russian culture and historical heritage is presented. DH's interdisciplinary nature, combining humanities methods with computational technologies, and its active development in Russia are examined. It is emphasized that DH expands traditional approaches, offering new prospects for analyzing large data volumes and achieving a deeper, more multifaceted understanding of cultural phenomena. Key areas of DH influence are highlighted: aspects of cultural heritage preservation and digitization, including the creation of digital archives ensuring their preservation and wide accessibility, 3D modeling, and GIS use, are explored; methods for Big Data analysis and culturomics, such as computational text processing for identifying hidden patterns and stylometric analysis, are analyzed. The development of interdisciplinary educational programs aimed at training a new type of specialist, and the activities of Russian scientific communities, including their projects, are characterized. The main challenges facing DH in Russia, particularly tool adaptation and ethical issues related to data interpretation and copyright, are analyzed. It is concluded that the field has significant prospects, and the importance of the responsible application of digital technologies in humanities research to ensure their scholarly validity, the objectivity of results, and the enrichment of scholarly knowledge is substantiated.
