PENGEMBANGAN KESESUAIAN LAHAN PALA FAKFAK (MYRISTICA ARGANTE WARB) UNTUK PENINGKATAN PRODUKSI
Fakfak nutmeg (Myristica argantea Warb) is an endemic plant that has become one of the mainstay commodities in Fakfak Regency that has been traded for a long time. However, the production of Fakfak Nutmeg is still relatively low, so a study is needed to evaluate and modify the suitability of the land so that the production of Fakfak Nutmeg is more optimal. The purpose of this study is to find out the characteristics of Fakfak Nutmeg, land suitability, the relationship between land characteristics and Nutmeg production and modify the suitability of Fakfak Nutmeg land. There are a total of 15 locations of nutmeg land whose soil samples were taken (from 5 SPL), land characteristics and nutmeg production. After that, soil chemistry analysis was carried out, data processing was carried out by matching with the Guidelines for Evaluating Land Suitability (Djaenudin et al, 2011), then correlation and regression analysis was carried out stepwise to determine the relationship that affects each land characteristic with Fakfak Nutmeg production, then determine the boundaries of the production class with Boundary line analysis in accordance with the FAO production suitability class (1976), namely the production class S1: 80-100% ; S2: 60-80%; S3: 40-60% and N: <40%. The results of the study provide an overview of the suitability of S3 land which has limiting factors in the form of rainfall, soil depth, rough materials, surface rocks and rock outcrops. The characteristics of the land that affect production are K availability, soil texture and coarse materials. By using the boundary line, new modification criteria for the three characteristics mentioned above can be determined.
