Geopolitical Aspects of Cooperation between the CIS Countries and Azerbaijan
The article examines the development of relations between Azerbaijan and the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The focus is on geopolitical interests in bilateral relations. The purpose of the study was to identify the main geopolitical factors influencing Azerbaijan's relations with these countries. The author argues that Azerbaijan’s geopolitical interests in the region lie in the development of transport corridors, increasing the volume of mutual trade and industrial cooperation. Cooperation with all countries involved in regional relations is a priority of Azerbaijan's geopolitical strategy. Since such a prospect means development for the CIS countries, their activities within the framework of bilateral cooperation with the Republic of Azerbaijan also acquire the character of pursuing their own geopolitical interests. The author comes to the conclusion that the geopolitical strategy of Azerbaijan offers cooperation rather than competition for all countries participating in regional relations. Thus, any aggression caused by geopolitical interests is neutralized.
