Modern trends in the methodology of scientific psychological research are characterized by an increasing use of quantitative methods, including big data and neuroscience, in parallel with the development of qualitative approaches such as phenomenological studies and discourse analysis. Particular attention is paid to the combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, as well as ethical aspects of research. Open science is becoming a key trend, promoting transparency and reproducibility of results. Research is aimed at deepening the understanding of mental processes, taking into account the impact of digital technologies and the need for practical application of results in various spheres of life. The study revealed the relevance of the crisis problem in psychological research, which affects the training of future scientists. However, even in the presence of difficulties, the high professional competence of postgraduate students is a key factor for successful scientific activity. The results emphasize the importance of thorough knowledge and understanding of the scientific apparatus. Professional competence of postgraduate students is defined as an integral characteristic that includes deep theoretical knowledge, research, communication and organizational skills, as well as adherence to academic integrity. The study refutes the permanence of crisis phenomena in psychological science, demonstrating that a high level of professional competence is the key to a successful scientific career for postgraduate students. Modern psychological research should focus on the application of scientific methods to ensure objectivity and reliability of knowledge. The use of psychological experiments, statistical analysis and evidence-based practice allows for the establishment of patterns and ensures the repeatability of results, which are key characteristics of science. Abandoning scientific methods puts psychology at risk of losing its status as a scientific discipline, as without a clear system of verification of claims, its theories and methods remain in doubt.
