Labor Market in Russia: Demographic Challenges and Territorial Imbalances
Modern labor market in Russia is undergoing profound transformations under the influence of global megatrends, geopolitical instability and long-term negative demographic trends. The influence of demographic factors on the labor market is one of the acute problems that require attention of state authorities and management, since the natural reproduction of the labor force acts as the basis for creating a mechanism for an effectively functioning labor market. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the functioning of the labor market in the context of the demographic crisis and existing territorial imbalances, to identify areas for addressing the pinpointed problematic aspects. According to the study results, the labor market is experiencing a severe shortage of personnel, especially in rural areas. The desire of the population for the most profitable and highly paid jobs causes an increase in internal flows of pendulum migration, which in the current conditions makes it possible to provide jobs for almost a third of the rural population.
