Post-sanctions Threats to the Economic Support of Russia’s National Security: Substance and Areas of Counteraction
The article examines the current state of the Russian economy, characterized by relative macroeconomic stability and positive short-term indicators. The results of the analysis allowed us to identify a number of contradictions at the beginning of 2025 due to the sanctions regime and our retaliatory measures. Based on the identified contradictions, the key threats to the economic provision of Russia's national security in post-sanctions conditions are characterized: technological lag, reduced investment and export revenues, fiscal imbalances and personnel constraints. The author summarizes the measures taken in 2024 by the country's legislative and executive authorities to maintain economic stability. Special attention is paid to methodological approaches to overcoming sanctions threats: scenario-based situational response, the use of "war economy" tools and the launch of new national projects. An analysis of the practical steps taken by the Russian authorities in 2024 demonstrates commitment to a strategy that takes into account the influence of several factors and ensures a balance between defensive and offensive economic actions. The study is based on official statistics from Rosstat and the Bank of Russia, and analytical forecasts from the Center for Macroeconomic Analysis and Forecasting.
