Improvement in Performance of Rohu (Labeo rohita) Fingerlings Fed with Isocaloric and Isonitrogonus Pumpkin Seed Meal Based Diet

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the combinatorial effects of Cinnamomum zeylanicum essential oil (CEO) and its principal compound, derived from cinnamon, 'cinnamaldehyde' (CA) alongside standard hormonal anti-cancer therapies such as tamoxifen (TAM) and anastrozole (ANA), for the management of estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) breast cancer. The CEO contains about 69.57% of cinnamonaldehyde, which showed high antioxidant, anticancer and medicinal activities. The most pronounced synergy was found when combined tamoxifen and CEO (CI = 0.205), causing potent cell death, G0/G1 phase arrest and modulation of estrogen receptor mRNA levels.Real-time PCR analysis demonstrated that the levels of the mRNAs for the estrogen receptors alpha (ER) and beta (ER) were significantly lower in the treated cells. Moreover, the treated cells did not show any noteworthy damage as per the DNA damage assessment conducted, thus showing a positive safety window. These results indicate that the effectiveness of hormone therapies in treating ER+ breast cancer can be improved with the addition of drugs such as CEO and CA hence the combination regimen is likely to be very effective and less toxic.
