A Quantitative Analysis Framework for Contributory Factors of Production Safety Accidents in Urban Gas Pipeline Networks of China

The production safety accidents in urban gas pipeline networks will gravely threaten public safety. This paper integrated the AcciMap model and the social network analysis (SNA) method to establish a quantitative analysis framework for the contributory factors of production safety accidents in urban gas pipeline networks of China, aims to identify core risk factors and core risk relationships, and to develop accident prevention and control measures based on them. Firstly, based on 175 typical accident investigation reports from 2013 to 2023 in mainland China, three main accident types and 24 typical contributory factors were identified. Then, an AcciMap model is developed to describe the relationships of contributory factors. Secondly, the SNA is combined with the AcciMap model to identify 8 core risk factors and 4 core risk relationships, then risk prevention and control strategies are proposed based on them. The results show that after the implementation of risk prevention and control strategies, the overall density, the centralization index, and the association accessibility of the network decreased by 39.12%, 100.00% and 66.44%, respectively. It is conclude that the targeted intervention measures such as eliminating core risk factors and blocking core risk relationships can effectively prevent and control the occurrence of accidents.
