PROGRAMA PREVINE BRASIL E O IMPACTO NA ASSISTÊNCIA AO PACIENTE COM DIABETES MELLITUS NO SUS
In 2019, the Ministry of Health approved a new policy for Primary Health Care (PHC) by the Unified Health System (SUS), known as Previne Brasil. This article discusses the impact of the Previne Brasil Program on the care provided to patients with Diabetes Mellitus. The new financing policy for Previne Brasil seeks to strengthen primary health care as a gateway and coordinator of care, with an emphasis on prevention, health promotion, early diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. The main objective of this new policy would be to expand access to and quality of health services, reduce inequities, and ensure comprehensive and humanized care for the entire population. The program has its strengths, one of which is the registration of all enrolled users, while its weakness is the focus on its indicators and team performance compared to other teams. The impact of Previne Brasil may be ambivalent. On the one hand, the importance of actions to prevent and control chronic diseases, such as blood glucose levels, regular monitoring and health education, can help control the disease and reduce complications. On the other hand, the pressure for results and the risk of underfunding in some regions can compromise the con- tinuity and comprehensiveness of care, especially in places with a shortage of human resources and infrastructure. Therefore, the effectiveness of Previne Brasil will depend, to a large extent, on how its guidelines are implemented locally, the technical and financial support offered to teams and the ability to adapt the model to different territorial realities. It is essential that health managers and professionals are vigilant to ensure that the pursuit of results does not compromise the principles of equity and comprehensiveness, which are pillars of the SUS.
