Exploring the Application of Group Coaching in Life Coaching
This study aims to provide foundational data for advancing the life coaching sector and the broader coaching field by exploring the application of group coaching in life coaching. A literature review identified 32 domestic studies published between 2008, when the first relevant study appeared, and November 2024, which included 9 on life coaching and 23 on group coaching. The research examined the current state of studies on life and group coaching, the application of group coaching in life coaching, and the advantages of integrating group coaching into life coaching practices. The findings indicate that while domestic studies on life and group coaching are limited, group coaching has been most actively studied within life coaching compared to other coaching areas. All studies focused on program development and effectiveness, with outcomes validated through practice-, mental health-, and relationship-related variables, confirming the effectiveness of group coaching in life coaching. The strengths of applying group coaching lie in fostering healthy social relationships, enhancing mental health and quality of life, and promoting individual practice, which aligned with the demonstrated outcomes of group coaching in life coaching and provided compelling evidence for its practical application. Based on these findings, the study recommends creating an open and receptive atmosphere, supplementing methods to address individual issues in greater depth, and enhancing coaching processes and coach competencies to maximize the benefits. This study bridges the focus areas of life and group coaching, offering an integrated analysis that transcends traditional boundaries and formats in coaching. By synthesizing theoretical perspectives and presenting evidence, the research highlights the need for further exploration and empirical studies, particularly those incorporating international literature. Such efforts could contribute to the overall development of the life coaching industry and coaching research.
