Assessing the influence of digital connectivity on student wellness
The goal of this research is to examine the impact of mobile phone usage on the mental, emotional, and physical health of college students. The research examines factors such as the duration of phone usage, physical issues (e.g., headaches, eye strain), and mental issues including stress, anxiety, Fear of Missing Out (FOMO), low self-esteem, and loneliness. It also aims to analyze the effects of mobile phone use among students to help formulate effective policies and promote healthier habits. There has been a lack of data available on heightened use of mobile phones since the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in TamilNadu, making this research essential. The research utilizes several machine learning techniques, including K-Means Clustering, Principal Component Analysis (PCA). It subsequently uses probability-based methods like regression analysis, hypothesis testing, and conditional probability tests to spot various behavioural trends. Control mechanisms are proposed in order to counter overuse as well as to improve the well-being of the students.
