Public Health Infrastructure, Mental Health Impact, And Legal Gaps During The Covid-19 Crisis In India: A Perspective
The COVID-19 pandemic, a notified disaster in India, was one of the century's disasters. It caused unprecedented deaths and severe social, financial and mental turmoil. Within the vulnerable groups, elderly persons, women, children, especially millions of women, were rendered destitute, millions of children were orphaned on account of the death of their parents, and differently able persons were exposed to higher risks. During the pandemic period in the year 2020, government-imposed lockdowns, people wore masks, maintained social distance and were forced to stay at home for safety reasons. The pandemic situation was unprecedented for the whole world. The world’s economy took a slump, small marginalised businesses suffered a huge setback; unemployment was on the rise; schools and colleges were closed, so students suffered the loss of an academic year; & rise in cases of domestic violence was also witnessed. Consequently, people were in a dilemma about what the future holds. The situation was one of a kind for the government across the world as well.
