Therapeutic strategies for diabetic cardiomyopathy: SGLT-2 inhibitors, GLP-1 receptor agonists, and beyond
Diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) is defined as the presence of myocardial injury in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) without other cardiac conditions such as ischemic heart disease or hypertensive heart disease [1].DCM is a major complication of DM and a prominent cause of heart failure (HF) [2].Although the management of DCM has not yet been specifically established, medications such as some sodium-glucose cotransporter al. [6] provides relevant findings on the management of DCM, future research must entail large, multicenter, randomized, controlled trials to validate the feasibility and effectiveness of SGLT2i and GLP-1ra in clinical settings.
