Unconventional Complication Following the Conventional Technique of Classic Laryngeal Mask Airway Placement
Supraglottic airway devices are essential tools for airway management during anaesthesia, both as a primary and rescue device in difficult airways. They are used in the operating room and non-operating room anaesthesia settings. They have gained popularity for their lesser invasive nature compared to endotracheal tubes. However, they are not free from complications. We report a case of carcinoma urinary bladder left vesicoureteric junction posted for elective transurethral resection of bladder tumour, which was associated with trauma to the uvula and soft palate during placement of classic laryngeal mask airway for airway management. The base of the uvula and the soft palate had a laceration.
