FISIOTERAPIA NA PREVENÇÃO DO ACIDENTE VASCULAR ENCEFÁLICO (AVE) EM IDOSOS HIPERTENSOS

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of global mortality, with stroke being one of the main causes of disability and death, particularly among hypertensive elderly individuals. Given that arterial hypertension is the primary modifiable risk factor for stroke, this integrative review aimed to analyze the role of physiotherapy in stroke prevention among hypertensive older adults. Seven articles published between 2023 and 2025 were included, addressing various physiotherapeutic strategies, with an emphasis on exercise programs. Findings indicate that physiotherapy interventions significantly reduce blood pressure levels, improve functional capacity and quality of life, contributing to stroke prevention. However, there is a noted need for further experimental studies with enhanced methodological rigor. It is concluded that physiotherapy is a fundamental tool in primary healthcare for hypertensive elderly patients, effectively promoting health and preventing cerebrovascular complications.
