PERFIL EPIDEMIOLÓGICO DAS MULHERES DO GRUPO DA FIBROMIALGIA DE UMA CLÍNICA ESCOLA DE FISIOTERAPIA DE UM CENTRO UNIVERSITÁRIO
Introduction: Fibromyalgia is a syndrome characterized by chronic, diffuse pain manifesting in both axial and peripheral body regions, which patients often find difficult to localize. The pain may present as burning, stabbing, a sensation of weight, or fatigue, constituting an ongoing process that affects quality of life, functional capacity, and health perception. This condition is frequently associated with depression and mood changes, significantly impacting work and daily life. Objective: To analyze the epidemiological profile of women in the fibromyalgia group at the physiotherapy school clinic of Centro Universitário Presidente Antônio Carlos - UNIPAC/JF. Methods: This is a cross-sectional observational study, using data collected from medical histories and the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ) and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), applied in 2022 and 2023. Results: The study included 24 women, showing a significant prevalence of symptoms like depression (41.7%) and anxiety (45.8%), as well as low physical activity (87.5%) and poor sleep quality (100%). The data indicated that fibromyalgia negatively impacts patients' quality of life. Conclusion: Fibromyalgia profoundly affects patients' quality of life, highlighting the need for physiotherapeutic interventions that promote physical activity and improve sleep to better manage symptoms.
