Architectural and urban planning rationality. Historical and cultural aspect
The article analyzes the interaction between historical buildings and new architectural solutions in the context of developing cities with rich cultural heritage. Particular attention is paid to successful examples of integrating new elements into the historical environment, harmoniously coexisting different time layers of the urban fabric. The role of architects and urban planners in preserving cultural heritage is considered, with an emphasis on the importance of their approaches to restoring and adapting historical buildings to modern standards and technologies. It examines how new projects aimed at maintaining the city's identity can contribute to improving the quality of life and creating a sustainable urban environment. Among such projects, the following stand out: the Center in Kudykina Gora Park, the Port Administration Building in Antwerp, and others, which are striking examples of a successful combination of innovative solutions and preserving the historical context. Based on the theoretical and practical approaches proposed in this area, the article emphasizes the importance of finding a balance between preserving the historical appearance and introducing new technologies, which is becoming an important factor in the sustainable development of cities.
