About “boring” architecture

The article is devoted to the problem of architectural expressiveness in the latest professional practice and the analysis of possible alternatives for the so-called "architecture of spectacle" or "wow-architecture". The directions are considered in which architects strive to give their works meaning not so much due to impressive form, but due to inclusion in various conceptual systems. Such systemic ideas are virtue and ethics, environmental context and memory, functionality and pragmatism. Interpretations of these concepts in the work of various modern architects are shown.
