BIOMARKERS AND EFFECTIVENESS OF EARLY USE OF EMPAGLIFLOZIN IN ACUTE MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION: PREVENTION OF PROGRESSION OF HEART FAILURE

The purpose of this study is to clinically substantiate the use (in the early stages of diagnosis) of SGLT2 inhibitors in patients who have had a heart attack, with the possibility of relieving or suspending progressive heart failure. Materials and methods. The study included 46 patients with acute myocardial infarction who were prescribed empagliflozin (10 mg daily, for 26 weeks) in the first 24 hours after admission. The study participants were randomized into groups: the main group received empagliflozin in combination with standard therapy, and the control group received only standard therapy. After 26 weeks, the assessment included changes in the NT-pro BNP index, ultrasound of the heart, HbA1c (glycated hemoglobim) index, and the patient's weight. Results. The subjects who took empagliflozin showed a noticeable improvement in clinical indicators of cardiac function (compared with the research group), in particular: normalization of left ventricular LVEF and BNP. It is also worth noting a decrease in the number of urgent visits to clinics by patients from the main group. Conclusion. Early use of empagliflozin in patients with acute myocardial infarction shows a fairly clear picture of slowing progressive heart failure, while positively affecting the physioactive functions of the body as a whole. The use of empagliflozin has proven effective in practice; this fact should be taken into account in the treatment protocol when making a diagnosis of heart failure.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to clinically substantiate the use (in the early stages of diagnosis) of SGLT2 inhibitors in patients who have had a heart attack, with the possibility of relieving or suspending progressive heart failure.
